Terms of Service
Last updated: 3 July 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
These terms govern your use of IQCO₂ (the "Service"), provided by [registered company name] ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and, where applicable, the organisation you represent.
2. What the Service does
IQCO₂ is a carbon accounting and compliance reporting platform. It lets you record activity data, applies versioned DEFRA emission factors to calculate emissions, and generates reports intended to support Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) obligations.
The Service is a tool, not advice. IQCO₂ helps you produce calculations and reports based on the data you provide — it does not constitute legal, accounting, or regulatory advice, and we are not responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter or for your organisation's ultimate compliance with SECR or any other regulatory framework. You remain responsible for reviewing and verifying your reports before filing them.
3. Accounts and organisations
You must provide accurate information when registering. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that happens under your account.
Access to an organisation's data is controlled by role (owner, admin, member, viewer). Organisation owners and admins are responsible for managing who has access and at what level.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to store or process data you don't have the right to hold.
- Attempt to access another organisation's data without authorisation.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract the underlying calculation engine or emission factor data in bulk beyond normal use of the Service.
- Use the Service in a way that could disrupt it for other users.
5. Subscription and fees
[Pricing model, billing cadence, and cancellation terms — to be defined based on the actual commercial plans offered.]
6. Your data, our data
As set out in our Privacy Policy, your organisation owns the activity data it enters into the Service. We own the Service itself — the software, the calculation engine, and the emission factor implementations — and nothing in these terms transfers that ownership to you.
Calculation records are immutable once created: they cannot be edited or deleted, only superseded by a new calculation. This is intentional and exists to support audit trail integrity.
7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, express or implied, about the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of the Service's outputs.
[Liability cap and exclusions — this needs to be set with legal input based on the actual risk profile and insurance in place; do not rely on placeholder wording here for a real filing.]
8. Termination
You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if these terms are breached, or if required to do so by law. On termination, your data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified to account holders before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
